A Step by Step Guide for What to Expect During New Heater Installation

If you’re planning to have a new heater installed, congratulations! It can be very exciting to have a new heating system in place so that you have peace of mind your system will work for a long time to come. Plus, new installations come with a manufacturer’s warranty that covers any unexpected repairs for a specific period of time.

But you may be wondering exactly what to expect during an upcoming heater installation appointment. You can keep reading to learn more about heater installation in Metairie, so you know what to expect when our team arrives on the day of your big project.

Removing Your Old System

First, our team needs to take out your old heater. We’ll turn off the electricity and gas lines leading to your heater for safety, and then begin to disconnect it. There are a variety of different types of heating systems, but removal is similar for all of them. Whether you have a heat pump that offers all-in-one heating and cooling or a gas or electric furnace, we will carefully remove the large indoor system before beginning the installation.

Getting the old heater completely out of the way gives us space to bring in all of the new components we need to install. Part of removing your old unit is cleaning up the surrounding areas. After a heater is in place for so long, there is inevitably some dust and dirt built up. We want to make sure that the space for your new heater is clean before we move forward with installation.

Assessing Upgrade Needs

As we remove it, we will assess any of the existing connections leading from your home to the place where your heater sits. For example, if an older heater leaked and damaged some of the surrounding areas, we will make repairs as necessary to the space where your heater is located.

If you’re exchanging a system for a similar but newer model, the existing connections may work just fine. However, if they’re older, we will make any necessary upgrades to optimize your new heater. If you are switching from gas to electric or vice versa, we may need to do a little extra work at this point of the installation.

Time for Installation

Now it’s finally time to bring in your brand new unit. We have everything ready to go so that we can make all the appropriate connections and begin optimizing your heater. The testing process is arguably the longest part of the installation.

We want to take our time so that everything is done just right. The way that your heater gets installed plays a major part in how efficient can be over its entire lifespan. We want to get it done right so that you can enjoy a highly energy efficient heater, no matter what type of system you choose.

Instructions

You may thank you know how to work your heater and that you don’t need any instructions. However, we want to review our best tips for maximizing your heater so that it can last a long time. We can talk to you about how to adjust the thermostat and what signs to pay attention to that can indicate your heater is having problems.

If you have any questions, please ask. If you end up having a question after we leave, just give us a call and we are happy to help. Remember, we won’t completely vanish after the installation is complete. Our team is here to help you with everything from maintenance to repairs.
