Help Maintain Your AC
Air filters do an amazing service for your air conditioner. They trap contaminants and harmful particles that would likely damage the coils of your compressor. Without the use of such a filter, your system would likely see half as long of a lifespan that it normally does. This is why it’s so important that this filter is cleaned and replaced regularly.
Step 1: Turn Off the Power
The firs step towards replacing your air conditioner’s filter is to turn off the machine. Performing any kind of maintenance while the system is on is a recipe for disaster. Plus, it’ll only take a moment for this process to be performed, so you’re really not missing out on any cooling!
Step 2: Locate and Remove the Filter
The air filter is usually located in the return air duct of your air conditioner. This is usually easy to locate and described to you by a technician when the system is first installed. Check the manual of your particular model if you have trouble locating it. Lastly, we’re always available to help you find your air filter if you can’t. Asking the pros is always better than opening something you shouldn’t!
Step 3: Clean or Replace the Filter
This is the tricky part. Make sure you know whether your air filter is a disposable one (which means it needs to be replaced by a brand new filter), or a reusable filter that should be washed or cleaned. It should tell you about all the air filter’s details in the AC’s manual. Don’t be afraid to ask if you have questions.
Step 4: Put in the Clean Filter
Once you’ve cleaned the reusable air filter or purchased a new disposable one, it’s time to put it back in your system. Make sure you put it in facing the right direction, there are usually arrows that tell you which side enters first.
Step 5: Turn the System Back On
Finally, once you’ve placed the clean air filter back in, turn the system on. Let it work for a litle while and take note of any problems, noises, or smells you detect. Make sure you call us for any additional help you require!
